Senior Java Software Engineer in Molecular Diagnostics

Join an energetic collaborative team of programmers, engineers, and scientists creating medical diagnostic instruments and assays for infectious diseases and oncology.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced developer to contribute to a variety of software for analyzing and visualizing quantitative PCR data. They will work closely with the instrument and assay development teams to select, develop, and verify performance of a variety of algorithms including:

  • Signal processing algorithms for analysis of raw data

  • Bayesian modeling of reaction chemistry

  • Machine learning algorithms for pattern identification

  • Dynamic programming algorithms for sequence alignment

 Qualifications

  • BS (required) or MS (preferred) in computer science, mathematics, or physics

  • 5 years Java programming, including Swing user interfaces

  • 8 commercial software development experience

  • Background or experience in scientific programming, particularly in molecular biology or medicine (highly desirable)

  • Education or experience in bioinformatics or statistical modeling of physical or chemical systems

  • Good team player with excellent cross-disciplinary communication skills

  • Experience with complete application lifecycle development and demonstrated competence in software engineering (highly desirable)

  • Broad knowledge of molecular biology methods and computational models as well as in-depth knowledge and experience with at least one platform used for molecular analysis (preferred)

  • Experience with formal design control procedures (desirable)
